Sales Executive – Intermodal

To assist with this growth, we are adding a Sales Executive to our Intermodal team.

The Sales Executive – Intermodal is responsible for soliciting business for our logistics division and achieving margin production goals. This role is also responsible for sourcing sales leads and prospecting for business in targeted markets. In this role, you will work with pricing operations staff to qualify new business opportunities and determine appropriate pricing and service commitments. We are looking for a team player that can help take our intermodal division to the next level.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential market segments and target companies that can utilize our IM product
  • Maintain in-depth working knowledge of our intermodal offering
  • Cross sell company services when possible.
  • Highway and Intermodal Operations and Pricing: Gather and provide necessary information to get/maintain the business. Update on loads and resolve issues.
  • Understand and contribute to the development of the corporate vision and long-term strategic goals; provide input to senior management on the development of these goals such as volume, margin, and revenue growth.
  • Contact prospective customers and qualify for potential fit with our services
  • Negotiate rates with assigned customers and prospects using our pricing tools
  • Develop an annual margin forecast and production goals
  • Present service proposals and RFPs to your prospects and customers
  • Work with pricing and operations staff to determine pricing strategy for each RFP
  • Provide pricing feedback to pricing staff from RFPs and spot quotes
  • Maintain information in Salesforce software tool
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events
  • Meet margin production goals

Requirements and Education:     

  • 5+ years’ experience selling intermodal services
  • Comprehensive understanding of the North American transportation industry including highway (domestic and cross border), intermodal and logistics.
  • Previous experience with SalesForce or CRM software preferred
  • Experience creating and conducting sales presentations
  • Analytical skills a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and verbal skills and proficient computer skills
  • Up to 10% travel required
