Cloud Systems Engineer

Description:

In this exciting and fast-paced role you will help Bay and Bay in its embracing of cloud-based technologies. You will be responsible for design, implementation and support of the Bay and Bay on premise and cloud infrastructure in a variety of environments. This position will also provide end user support across a wide variety of modern and legacy systems. You will be responsible for ensuring desktop/laptop computers, networks (wired and Wi-Fi), our Cloud environments (Azure, Citrix), printers, and other peripherals are functional and end users are fully operational. 

The optimal candidate for this role will have three traits – good communication (written and verbal), a great attitude, and high aptitude to learn quickly and help advance systems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design of cloud infrastructure with a focus on Azure/MS365 using industry best practices.
  • Support Citrix Cloud environment with 300+ virtual desktops.
  • Organize and execute security best practices, including patch management and incident response.
  • Conducted regular vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Monitored security logs and alerts to detect and respond to cyber threats in a timely manner.
  • Mentor existing staff on cloud computing best practices and technology to drive cloud adoption.
  • Forecasting, implementation, capacity planning and identification of resource requirements for virtual network systems of high complexity.
  • Create virtual network documentation that includes logical designs, version management and IP schemas in consultation with Bay and Bay network team.
  • Provide Tier II/III support for advanced virtual network issues including configuration, routing issues, performance, software bugs, hardware failures, etc.
  • Works with the Systems Director to drive network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Provide on-site technical support while managing user expectations.
  • Triage Help Desk tickets, finding answers and helping end users.
  • Participates in after-hours on-call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Document all work completed in service desk tickets (Zendesk, DevOps, or other tool).
  • Research new technologies and prototype solutions that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performance.
  • Create and update network and systems documentation. 
  • Provide Tier I/II/III support for network and cloud issues including configuration, routing issues, performance, software bugs, hardware failures, etc.
  • Work with and help infrastructure-related vendors, including help with financials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in technology, computer science, or equivalent technology discipline and/or equivalent related development experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of infrastructure experience (desktops, servers, AD, DNS, etc).
  • 5+ years’ experience with cloud infrastructure technologies (Azure, 2FA, MS365, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, data, and applications) to deliver end to end cloud infrastructure architectures and designs
  • Solid scripting experience preferred.
  • Experience in Citrix/CitrixCloud, Mimecast, major databases, and security tools (Defender, Carbon Black, etc.) through training on hands-on experience, preferred.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly.
