Truckers can’t say they weren’t warned. In fact, they can be secure in the knowledge of at least one expectation from inspectors in the San Antonio, TX, area and around North America later this spring.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance plans to pay special attention to cargo securement in this year’s International Road Check. The 72-hour event, which is marking its 30th anniversary, is scheduled for June 6-8.
At a rate of around 15 vehicles a minute, certified inspectors nationwide will take a close look at commercial vehicles and their drivers. Each year during the annual event, a category of violations is given extra attention and this year the focus will be on how well cargo is secured.
As usual, the emphasis will be on safety as inspectors go down a checklist that will include nearly 40 items and involve an examination of both drivers and the vehicle’s condition. Along with a usual list of equipment, operators will be expected to present a driver’s license, proof of hours-of-service, and cargo documents. There will also be checks for the use of seat belts and evidence of substance use.
No doubt operators from Bay & Bay Transportation will be among those getting a second look from inspectors in San Antonio, TX, and other parts of the country, where Bay & Bay not only has local routes but longer assignments for over the road drivers who operate late-model gear and are eligible for several types of bonuses.
The Texas Trucking Association estimates that slightly more than 40% of what is manufactured in the state is handled by the trucking industry. A reliance on trucks to deliver the goods in many Texas communities is why Bay & Bay is currently seeking drivers for local routes and those who are willing to haul within a 100-mile radius around Dallas and 50 miles around Houston and San Antonio, TX.
Every day and on every assignment, Bay & Bay Transportation prides itself on safety and reliability. It’s why they’re known as a quality driven tradition on highways around San Antonio, TX, and on countless miles of roadway nationwide. Call (888) 801-3026, or visit our website to learn more.
